The Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology and Public Utilities (MESTPU) has partnered with the Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF) in a Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) to engage Caribbean students who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science and engineering in an enrichment residential four week summer program.

Belizean Student Participated in the SPISE Program (2012)
The Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) is an intensive four-week enrichment residential summer program for promising Caribbean high-school students who are at least age 15 but less than age 17 on August 1, and who are interested in exploring careers in science and engineering. The goal is to help address the low numbers of Caribbean students pursuing advanced degrees and careers in science and engineering, and to help develop the next generation of technology leaders in the Region.
Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology and Public Utilities Strategic Plan 2012-2017 Launch
The Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities has embarked on articulating its strategic plan to enhance its planning for a Sustainable Energy Sector for Belize. The purpose of this Sustainable Energy Strategy 2012-2033 is to establish a framework that will result in transitioning the energy sector and economy toward low carbon development. The document recommends a set of programmes and action plans to achieve a low carbon economy by 2033 through improved energy efficiency and conservation, and developing Belize’s domestic energy resources to facilitate private sector participation and investment in the new low carbon energy sector; to empower rural communities to participate in income-generating activities, particularly women and young people; and to encourage and advise the public
