Regional Hackathon Competition-CANTO's Annual C.O.D.E. 1.0

The Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology and Public Utilities (MESTPU) in collaboration with the  Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) and the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), hereby notifies you and your network of the regional Caribbean CANTO CODE 1.1 Hackathon scheduled in Miami at the Hyatt Regency on July 27 – 29, 2015.

This is a first of its kind event where Belize is being asked to participate as a part of this regional competition bringing together the brightest minds in Information Technology (I.T.) to work in teams to develop or “hack” innovative I.T. solutions to real world problems in a short period of time. This effort will enable Belize to promote its talent in the I.T. services industry to further develop the Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) sectors of which Latin America and the Caribbean are a trending nearshore niche.

Kindly find attached the project concept note, application form and flyer. The criteria for participation is a team of three (3) individuals ages 18 to 35. The regional organizers of this event include PieData, the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunication Organizations (CANTO) and sponsored by Domus Semo Sancus (DSS) “House of Trust.” The official website link and application is launched online at http://canto.org/competitions/icreate-c-o-d-e-1-0/competition-overview/

Please note that the deadline for applications is Friday, June 19th, 2015 after which the teams selected will have one (1) week to code a prototype of a solution to a problem on CANTO’s online platform from June 22nd, 2015 to June 29th, 2015. The winning teams from each country will then be announced on July 10th, 2015 after which they will be sponsored to participate in the regional competition in Miami to code for 48 hours.
