SPISE 2014 Update
Recognizing the importance of science and technology (S&T) in creating sustained long-term economic growth, the Ministry of Energy Science and Technology and Public Utilities (MESTPU), continue to support programmes and initiatives that are geared toward capacity development and training. The establishment and maintenance of an indigenous S&T workforce is crucial and will allow a developing country like Belize, to be more than just consumers of other nations’ technologies. For this and countless reasons, the MESTPU in partnership with the Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF) continues to seek young scholars with an interest in science and engineering to participate in the annual Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering at the CSF headquarters in Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. The Ministry of Public Service and Elections and Boundaries celebrated Public Service Information Day on May 29, 2014 at the George Brown Field in Belmopan City under the theme: “Public Service: Service for You, Service for Me, Serving the People, Serving Belize.” Over 22 different Ministries and Departments participated in the event.
